Adventures in Heritage Fabrics

What I Do

Lilac Pearl Textiles creates original products, either singly or in small batches so that no two are alike. Inspired by colour and driven by ethics, the fabrics are heritage, either new or vintage, and the designs have a twist to give each product a unique look and feel. Mid-century influences are seen in the home-ware; timeless design in the fashion accessories.

Who I Am

Lilac Pearl Textiles is owned by Leigh Burrows, who runs it from a small studio in Makers’ Yard in Leicester. Leigh has always been a collector of textiles, and loves the process of putting together colourful, textural pieces to accessorise both people and their homes. The thrill of sourcing unusual or rare fabrics – from well-loved designers such as Lucienne Day, or looking to other continents for remnants of garments such as kimonos – starts the making process, and the fabric influences the design. Other techniques include the use of innovative dyeing techniques and kantha-style stitching to add another dimension to the product.
